Student Programs

Student Programs here at JIEC

Students enroll here for one of two reasons:  to recover courses or to be separated from their zoned school because of behavior.  Students who are here because of recovery need to be here daily and do whatever it takes to recover and pass all courses.  Students who are here for behavior have very specific guidelines set up by their hearing officers.  They must meet the conditions set for them before they can be returned to their zoned school.  They must also make every effort to correct their behavior and demonstrate that they have the ability to succeed in the regular school setting.

Important to note:  Recovery students have not lost privileges; they may still attend all events open to the public and participate in athletics at their zoned schools IF they meet eligibility guidelines.

Behavior students, including expulsions and manifestation hearing students are not to set foot on the property of any other Pasco County school.  If they do, they can be arrested for trespassing.

Recovery

Expulsion

If you are here for recovery,
expectations include:

  • Daily Attendance
  • Complete Recovery Work
  • Use Time Wisely
  • Demonstrate Appropriate Behaviors
  • Keep trying, even when the work gets tough
  • If you are here in lieu of expulsion or from a manifestation hearing, you have specific guidelines set for you by the hearing officer.
  • You must abide by the conditions set and meet all requirements laid out during your hearing in order to remain here at JIEC and/or return to your zoned school.
  • This is a second chance for you.  Make it a point to focus yourself on your work and abide by our procedures.
  • If you do not abide by the specified guidelines, or if you have any Level 2 or 3 offenses, we may recommend that the expulsion recommendation be forwarded to the school board.
